Getting a second opinion is always a good idea, so that you know about every possible option available. While one physician may not be an expert in mesothelioma, another one may. Getting that second opinion puts you in contact with those with experience and knowledge of Mesothelioma and treatment. Another important thing to note is that difference cancer centers have different treatments. So, when you seek medical consultation with physicians, Mesothelioma experts will be able to inform you and your family of all of your possible treatment options. Remember, you have a right to choose where you go for treatment and what physician will ultimately be responsible for your care. It is important that you feel comfortable with the health care team, as they will be assisting you along the way with many important decisions. If your primary doctor, or the oncologist that you have been referred to, is not a mesothelioma specialist, ask about a second opinion at a mesothelioma center. Your doctors should be open to such a suggestion; if they are not, seek other sources that can help you find a mesothelioma expert.

Heyya. Nice information you have here! Thank you very much for sharing. Anyways, if you have this kind of symptoms; shortness of breath caused by expanding pleural effusion and persistent dry cough, then you need to work with your doctor to be diagnosed. It’s a tough thing to have to watch a loved one go thru the stages of death and dieing. Sharing is caring right? Sorry if out of topics.

Last January in 2008, there was a huge fire in the downtown of Maquoketa, IA. I live there. The fire burnt three buildings down where local businesses were established. It was terrible, but the fire fighters came from every community to put the fire out. The businesses had insurance coverage for the cleanup of the fire, but it was then discovered that there was asbestos located on site. One business had insurance that covered this but the other businesses involved didn’t have that coverage, so the insurance won’t help. Now it is November, nine months later and the mess still sits. Probably through another winter. If this continues to be ignored I fear someone could get Mesothelioma.
